Life presents us with remarkable challenges. There are many puzzles, problems and predicaments along the path from Birth to Death. At first glance, the voyage seems overwhelming and, maybe, impossible but we have Love to guide us through. In fact, Love might be the only thing that gets us through Life! Love is the most powerful force in the Universe! With it, we can reach for whatever we need and get it. The Beatles knew this: "All You Need is Love!"
Finding Love
How can we find love when we look in all the wrong places? How can we find it when our notion of beauty is so incredibly warped by the everyday media with which we are constantly bombarded? We are not taught about the beauty of Art. Most likely, our idea of beauty is simply the cover without the book!
Sharing Love
You are very lovable and loving. Do you know that? You possess the ability to give and receive love unconditionally and with all your heart. This life is short so love as if tomorrow were your last day on earth. All of us should interact in loving ways each time we encounter another living being. Smile. Say, "Hello." Shake hands. Give Hugs. Touch the hands of an elderly person and give them a huge smile! Gentle, helping touch is one of the greatest ways to heal. Share the joy in your heart with someone through touch. Ask permission, though. Always ask permission to touch someone before you do it. There are those who do not feel comfortable with touch and all of us should honor the desire not to be touched when it is expressed. It is never acceptable to force any sort of touch on another child, adolescent or adult. That kind of touch is called Abuse!
Sexual Love
Sexual Love is for adults. Period. It is never, never alright for an older person/adult to have sex with a child. Children may play at it, young people may try it, but the best sexual love is between loving, consenting adults. The best lovers are those who have looked inward for a long time, who love themselves (imperfections and all), and who give and receive love in equal parts. They are interested in the pleasures and erotic areas of their lovers and explore them with glee. Sexual love becomes better with age: a secret generally kept from young people. Such sexual love is joyful, playful, full of passion, and sometimes soft caring. Most of all, the lovers are respectful of each other's dignity.
Finding Spiritual Love
Somewhere during the time it takes us to grow up, we come to learn that we are not the center of the Universe or even the center of the Earth. We come to discover that there is some being, some entity, some thing that is much, much greater than any of us on this planet. Learning this powerful lesson is a tough one and a progressive one. No matter what you wish to call This Being (and many people give This Being many different names), when you wake up and become aware, this is when the true lesson in Love starts! Once you have truly discovered what I call "All That Is," you will never be the same. You will start to realize that the best love songs are really for This Being and the best hymns and psalms are truly beautiful love songs! So Awaken and Sing!
