Cats are individuals. Perhaps the most independent of all animals. Like stubborn people a cat can
never be made to do anything which it objects to. Cats can be very devoted to their homes and their owners
, but they don't seem to take on their owner's personality...they have enough of their own .
Cats
like to be flattered and to be told they are beautiful and clever: it is quite certain they understand
what is said, and they react differently to anger and cruelty. Cats dislike high voices and violent noises:
they like flowers and bright colours.
Cats communicate with humans and each other by the way they
move their ears and tails. They have many eloquent facial expressionsand can show disapproval,fear, anger,
pleasure and many other emotions. Cats have very expressive voices and show all the various moods...They
leave no doubt as to when they are hungry, cross or disapproving, and there is no mistaking their purr
of happiness, a sound made only by cats. A cats hearing is acute, their ears can pick up the slightest
sound. Their ears also indicate their mood; a flick shows you have been heard, when flattened and lying
close to the head it is a danger signal and wiser not to handle a cat when it is in such a mood. A Fluffed
tail means they are angry and a ridge of fur standing up along the spine means they are more than ready
for a fight.
Never laugh at a cat they hate it, although the are always willing to make fun of their owners
and have a great sense of humor. Cats walk on thier toes and are known for their ability to walk completely
silent. They do this because they retract, or draw in their claws.
I t is said cats can see in
the dark, although it has been disputed it is certain that all cats wild and domestic hunt at night ,
and travel many miles at night....only a cat knows what it can do. Eyes should be bright and alert,
and the nose cool and moist to the touch.
Cats are clean and fastidious so the coat should be
free from fleas and ears clean as they will be miserable and unhealthy.
Cats are very brave..warning
people of fires, leaking gas and floods....they are also courageous when they have kittens, protecting
them from danger and they never leave their kittens, making sure they are in a safe place.
