Below is an e mail that I recieved from Gigi DeYoung sharing some of her
memories of the ride and hopefully we will have some photos soon.
Okay, I have pictures from the ride. It was a great one Huh? I remember getting all the way to Brawley, getting our one shower then we got
into a mud fight as soon as we got back to camp. And there was an earthquake
at about 5am. I never knew you could hear it coming through the ground and
to feel the ground roll! Wow! Never mind that there was a horse tied up about
5 feet from us and we were scrambling to get out of its way! My name is Gigi DeYoung. I did the ride one year and also helped
with the supply trips another year. Our food was what DeAnza had: one apple,
orange and bannana, 2 bars of chocolate and some beef jerky. One day the
supply truck brought us cereal! That was great! Jim Parsons wife sent some
home baked goods once too! Anyway I will look for the pictures. It was great to see your site! Gigi
