Jim Irvine. I thought that Jim might possibly be able to help you locate
people from the school.
Robert,
My name is Jim Irvine.
Thank you very much for posting your web page. I was thrilled
when I
searched "Desert Sun School" and up it popped!
As you may know the Anza ride was created by Dr. James Parsons
of Desert Sun
School back in about 1978 as part of Vin Skinner's "Chrysalis" program.
That in itself was a spin off of the 2 weeks off from School that Mrs.
Mary
Warring started. And that in turn was a spin off from "Earth Week"
that was
started by Edith Elliott, the school's founder, in 1970.
I used to truck in hay, food, and water to the camp in Coyote
Canyon in the
70s. for the riders.
I was a summer student from 1964-67
a winter school student form 66-71
an alumnus 71-72
a Board of Trustees member 1972-1979
So I know a lot about the School.
Anyway I am trying to put together as many of our students by
email as I can.
I came to your page via a listing in Yahoo.
Could you keep in touch with me. I'd like email addresses from
any Desert
Sun, Elliott-Pope students that contact you.
By the way, I never had Don Vancini for any class in all my years
at DSS.
Once, when I was on the Board and asked him about that he said it was
on
purpose! i9 was surprised. I really liked the man. I know he built
some very
loyal followers.
If anybody asks for phone numbers of DSS-TEPPS students
or staff I have as
complete a list as there is that I know of.
thank you,
Jim Irvine
