"It was a dark and stormy night..." in January of 1978 in Bedford, England when into this world TempestWolf was born, screaming like a banshee. She spent five years of her life in beautiful Britain before she moved to the United States of America and moved around the country a bit. I won't bore you with the details, but I'll bore you about my "alternative" education. =)

About 6 years ago, my best friend introduced me to the power of herbs as medicines. Since I knew of no one else in my area who knew anything about herbs (and my best friend lived six hours away), I was left on my own to study. For the next few years I bought every book I could find (and afford) on herbs and studied whenever I could. When I moved to New England, I soon found people who were herbalists and I took classes under them, absorbing as much as possible and questioning them when things I'd learned on my own in book-studies occasionally contradicted what they were teaching. (I soon learned that herbalists, like doctors, are often provided with contradicting information when dealing with medicines and health care.. perfectly "normal".

Then, in May, 1997, I was given the opportunity to apprentice under an herbalist. I passed my apprenticeship and am still researching herbs and their uses. I am also thinking of apprenticing under another hebalist or two as well... My friends wonder how much more I need to learn when I'm already picking strange (to them) plants and applying them to their bug-bites and cuts. And as much as they hate the taste of some of my herbal brews, they admit they work well.. ;)

Continuing my "alternative" education, I also took two Reiki classes, becoming a Reiki II practitioner and learning Traditional Usui Reiki. Reiki is a very old technique of "energy healing". Practitioners channel Ch'i into the client's body by merely "laying on of hands". The effects of Reiki are similar to that of acupuncture in that it balances energy and removes energy blockages; however Reiki is often far more subtle and usually requires a couple sessions before effects can be noticed. (No, I don't say this so pratitioners can get more money.. I say it because it's true!). Reiki works on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

Also, I am saving up to go to massage school. I love to give massages and my friends have convinced me not to let my "natural talents" go to waste. Well, guys and gals, I'm not going for the money.. I'm going so I can augment my skills and give you better back-rubs, so there! ;)

Some of my hobbies are: learning about whatever I can get my hands on, gardening, playing with my friends and pets, martial arts, reading, writing short stories and poems, drawing, roleplaying games, painting miniatures, designing web pages, playing (working) on the computer, playing in the snow, and howling at the moon. (Whew! That's alot!) ^_~

Some of my interests are: all things natural, healing, people, ancient myths and superstitions, mythical beasts, roleplaying, cooking, anime, most types of music, ancient history, and art of all kinds.

Some of my pet peeves are: willful ignorance, rudeness, people hurting each other, animals and nature, lack of respect, and people who can't/won't control/instill discipline in their kids and/or pets (I'm all for fun and games, but there's a time for play and a time for seriousness.)
