The enchanting Lata Kinjang 2 Falls that are seldom seen! We hiked up the steep hill and meet up with the main trail and the continuation from that point led to the upper Juk Cascades. This time that remaining portion was gone, the road closed! We had to make a detoured. Others who met with similar experiences had blazed a new track to the left going uphill. |
We followed this well trodden path. It was steep, moving up all the way for a good 300 meters with no easing off in gradient. The surrounding was that of an abandoned rubber plantation. |
When the estate's surrounding ended and the trail took us into forested area. The trail passed through undulating territory with stretches on slippery ground and some steep spurt. By now, we had made a semicircular trip around the hill. Then new sounds of water falling assured us that Lata Kinjang was just besides us hidden by the thick vegetations.. The top falls that we were heading for was not that far away. It meant going up again! |
True enough we finally reached there! This was the best picnic area, flat dry camping area, and sandy and shallow pool with the deep end just below the fall. Quality of the water was good, but questionable! Other than that everything was perfect. |
For a change from our modus operandi, the place was too tempting for us not to miss some funs in the water.
The water gushed down from an area of the pump house and "Orang Asli" settlement. It hits a snack before dropping down like a gigantic shower. See Joyce and Khoo enduring the beating of the spray! |
At the edge the water gushes out through another narrow outlet and spreads open for a broad fall in the next drop. This second fall can be reached by descending the cliff wall with the assistance of roots and vines. That was what we did! We also collected souvenir of this second fall. There was only a small pool. There are tracks on either sides of both top and 2nd pool form part of the circular trekking trail. |

With enough fun and photographs, we descended to the lower fall to get our dare-devil models to perch on the edge of the cliff. Here you will get a breath taking sight of Chenderiang, Tapah and the coast. |
In totality, this place is truly magnificent, good adventure, fair trekking and a fantastic sight. Please be WARNED this place is not for the faint hearted or undisciplined. The high cliff, slippery surfaces and limited standing room. Together with these 2 falls, the total drop of Lata Kinjang cascades is definitely exceed 300 meters which will make it the tallest drop in Peninsula challenging that of the Jerawang. |
