Mersing Resthouse - found but abandoned 5 years ago |
![]() |
Beside seeking out the Resthouse for this town, we were on a look out for good food. This restaurant, co-incidentally the best in town, was conveniently located at the town center. Of course we did not miss the opportunity to check it! |
| The rest house was made up of 2 sizable buildings, strategically local at one corner of the esplanade for the town. It is perched on the hill side and over looking a bay. | ![]() |

Another view of the rest house, a frontal shot highlighting the vast open air waste land that was once the lawn for that large house in a luxurious setting.. |
| Not every thing was abandoned! This relatively new, good looking signboard gave us hope that the rest house was some where near by for us to bed down for the night. | ![]() |
Enough of feeling disappointed by the sight, we turned our attention to the surrounding of the town.

This pair of lonely Avicennia trees bear testimony that this stretch of the esplanade was part of a mangrove forest once in history. |
| The
unfamiliar lava rock along the shores should start a good
conversational topic.
But colorful fragments of them all littering the whole beach were good souvenirs. |

Far away across a narrow channel, large sculptured, sedimentary rocks stood in defiance of the weathering process. |
| Looking
back to town, the doom of the mosque that stood on top of
a low hill.
It was blocked by one of its minarets. |
