Part 2 - Good Resthouse in Frasers Hills

We were back to Frasers Hills again once more.

This time to check out the Resthouse on the Hill resorts. From The Gap, a 8 kilometers hill route takes visitor to this point. This is the Gateway to the Hill resort. It is at the boundary between the states of  Selangor and Pahang. Officially, the gate is on the Selangor side!

So is the area of Frasers Hills in Pahang or Selangor?  The answer came at the end of this short stretch to the summit. This next entry point seats on a ridge. After this point, most part of the resort area is on the eastern slope i.e. Pahang Side.

The business hub

This hill station is essentially made up of private homes scattered over the slopes of the many "peaks". There is no township and hence no town center. Upon arrival, all essential services for the Hill Station are concentrated. Post Office, Police station, Shops, eateries and a Golf Club make up this focal point. To mark the center a clock tower stands! This rather cute but more appropriately, decorative signage was found at several major road junctions.

It would not give a good guide to your homes but for the lost souls who needed a watering hole. Appropriate.

Overall they served well as ornamental pieces, at least, they are enhancing the ambience of the resort.

Clock towers had always been associated with town center.

This one was no different, so Khoo joined the rank of models in welcoming you, who has been so nice of you to visit this page of ours.

Stress free resort lifestyle

Condominium blocks strategically stacked up and perching on a vantage hill top.

Well exposed for visitors to envy and offer good views for those occupants.

Some house owners prefer to have their houses neatly stash away in the valley's yet discreetly visible to passing traffic. Quite a deviation from the concept of having bungalows hidden from sight
"Ye old Smokehouse" a commercial outlet, hope to follow its success in Cameroon Highlands, was fast making itself a landmark in Frasers Hills.

It was popular with visitors and very well patronized on weekends..

The Rest house

The Resthouse was a stunningly beautiful colonial styled bungalow standing on a noticeable summit.

It was extremely popular for the budget conscious holiday makers and large groups.

During our visit, 2 separate church groups filled the whole bungalow.

We were charmed by the tall windows and the Tudor style of architecture.

The building had also opt for pure white with black trimming for its external color.

One level down, this vast playground was the size of several football fields.

Strange for this rather large lands bank surrounded by neighborly peaks and rolling hills, to be intact.

A view of the Rest house from its entrance.

There is a long driveway. Then, unusual to have the access from the rear.

Life in Frasers Hills

It was difficult to spot the local community of the Frasers Hills resort. They are scattered and little traces of community life seen in the town center.

On the contrary, the presence of this primary school then indicated the size of local Chinese community!

We were not prepared for bird watching. Some how we must try out the jungle trails.

They came in handy for us to do some testing of our physical fitness.

We were also rewarded with many ginger flowers in full bloom.

We were satisfied that one more Resthouse was kept alive till the close of the century
