A very old building but not Run downed- Tanjong Malim Resthouse This is the usual stopping point for express buses plying the old Highway 1 from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh! For those buses operating in Selangor or Perak States, this is the border, their last official stop. |
| This stone marker greets visitor traveling along Federal Route 1 to the Perak state.
The bus terminal now lies just beside the stone marker.

With many buildings and few people moving around, Tanjong Malim appeared deserted. The diminishing traffic had removed the sole reason for the towns prosperity! |

This old "Rex" theatre that still retain the old "Shaw Brothers" logo on its roof is evident of the better days. |
In Tanjong Malim, there are few suburbs, slow in being created and relatively small in numbers!
The Resthouse
This is a authentic bungalow displaying contemporary designs of its era!

Wide lawn
and spacious drive way.
There was also no fencing, reminiscence of the colonial days. |
The building reflects the glory of yesteryears and the mood of the present town, decaying and had seen better days!

the practices then, the Rest Houses is located in an area
together with other administrative offices.
In this place, there is the Public Works Department! |

Resident in the area, found a convenient place to have lunch here.
At the same time an excuse to park their vehicles for the whole day without charges!
| While the
building looks extremely old and the place deserted. The
small dinning area is kept in presentable state.
The Rest House keeper must be proud of the level of services he maintains under such trying conditions. The band of loyal customers keep him going! |

We are disappointed at the looks of the old building, but impressed at the manner how this contractor managed to make this neglected outfit in a deserted viable! Shame to those contractor who couldn't sustain the concept, although allocated with a better, bigger and more beautiful Rest Houses. A thumb's up! |
