Two Resthouses- hideaway in a kampong- Sabak Bernam Many coastal towns started as villages, more concrete buildings were gradually added. At one time, they get large enough in size and importance -their names appear on maps! |
| Sabak
Bernamm is a township built on an entirely new plot some distance from
the first settlement.!
The new town has shop lots arranged in a square. |

Buses serving the Selangor's northern coastal district would make their last stop at this "Market square". Make a turn for its for the return trip! The Resthouses All said so far, is about the town, some distance away from this town square, within the village area, is the Resthouse. There is a "kampong" road the leads north from the "Market Square". It is a fairly broad road. |

After a couple of kilometers along this road, watch out for the turn off to "Rumah Rehat" Then you will be driving along this road. |
This is a serene and scenic road through the residential country side
|
Now this "kampong" road lead visitors straight to the river bank. This long bunds that runs along the river bank, shelters the hinterland from overflowing of the river. |

There are few Rest Houses left in the Selangor State. This stretch of coastal region here has most of them!
In Sabak Bernam, there are 2 of them, one beside another!

The first
Rest House is made up of 2 rows of low houses.
They are in the design of a motel, within a fenced courtyard, complete with ample parking space. |
| The second Rest House is impressive. This is a newly completed bungalow building within a matured garden | ![]() |
| The rear portion is an open porch with
barbecue facilities. The compound of both Resthouses is in the midst of a coconut plantation. There are birds from wild and also the neighboring wetlands! |

No food is available from both Rest Houses, but who needs food when the town center is only 10 minutes drive away. Along the coastal area, "Ikan Bakar" stalls dot the town roads.. The point that fascinates us most, is the ultra new building and the absolute quietness. A prefect setting for get away. It is understood that the cheaper Rest House is heavily booked while the larger Rest House with rooms at RM50 is normally used by dignitaries |
