A classy Inn- Resthouse in Kuala Pilah Kuala Pilah is another mid-way town, a town where travelers wary of the winding stretch of road through the Main Range, take a breather. This is one town that has grown at the outskirt. There are a few new housing estates away from the town proper. |
| A view from a high ground, gives visitors an insight to some of such houses that typifies the new Kuala Pilah suburbs! | ![]() |
| The town
itself has changed little.
Make up of a single dual carriage main street, a couple more streets on the right side form a square shaped commercial center. On the left side, the roads are narrower and appear like lanes and back streets! |
A normal town with no surprises, no unusual shops or activities going on in town.

However, at the
eastern exit of town, on the way to Bahau, this couple of buildings, temple
and mosque are colorful.
An artistic sight or even perhaps cultural! The diverse color scheme and architecture made the complex outstanding! |
| A
common meeting place for the town folks, is just behind the main street. In what
used to be the town's hawker's center, the upkeep of the place showed that it
had seen better days!
|
| A couple
of stalls still display the signage that they are serving
terrapin soup!
A delicacy that put Kuala Pilah on the map. |

|
With fierce conservation program and the dwindling supply of this animal, there is a shift of their core business to noodle. [Incidentally, terrapins are farmed] |

Something unusual, these
are metallic moulds for the
preparations of local cookies. many shops offered them for sale, are widely
displayed. The reasons for such extravaganza is unknown. Is it the popularity of such cookies or their preparation in this district celebrated? |
The Resthouse
The Rest House perched on a low hill. This hill is turn shadowed by a taller hills that forms Kuala Pilah's boundary

.This is
tidy and classy inn.
Its location and upkeep reflect on its status and importance in this frontier town. |
| The
properly manicured lawn and the majestic pillars that
supported the Rest House, add a touch of class to
this area! The lower floor in this picture, houses the town's popular Sea Food restaurant. |

Further down the side corridor are the room's exterior
with its elegantly designed balcony.
Rooms are fitted with split unit air-conditioner unit for maximum comfort! |
| The Rest House complex also comes with 3 detached buildings. The bungalows are air-conditioned and a porch for the occupants' car! | ![]() |

Sri Menati- Historical royal town There are 2 approach roads to this royal town. One coming from the South and another, a branch-off from the Easterly route to Kuala Pilah! The official road which is the later, is broad and well maintained. The other, scenic but a regular country road passing through the kampongs! On this road, cows in the kampongs are released and allowed to roam freely. |
| This
beautiful arch greets visitor to the complex.
Here, apart from the old palace, there is also an existing Istana in contemporary design.! |

The view of that famed olden Palace! This building boast of having being made entirely of wood and without the use of nails. It is well maintained and in good condition. |
A horse carriage doubles up as tourist attraction when not attending to official functions.
|
As an added attraction to the palace, this carriage was used to ferry visitors around to get a feel of the mood. In this case here, Joyce was collecting her souvenir. |
