Kuala Kangsar

Kuala Kangsar, the Royal Town has always being portrayed with its artistic mosque and the long Iskandar Bridge! There are other beautiful aspects of this quiet and traditional township that escape the publicity blitz!

Here the school girls passing by the antique clock tower in town center! Nothing to boast about! But look at the setting and the quality of life. Giving it a feeling like staying in a museum. Just think, a place rich with traditions, calm and caring society!
OK, the area old township on the contrary was left unattended. Only for nostalgic reasons, time stood still. Otherwise there was nothing special to be proud of!
However at the corner of one of these street was this left design reflecting the living style then or architectures of those days! It would have made the town very proud if this particular portion was refurbished and become another added attraction. One more added reason for visitors to wander into town!

If you look around the town there are much more attractions in the vicinity!

Here is the old "watering" hole and the place for the "Who's who". The Idris Club still stand proud of its traditions.
Then this virtually unknown pavilion facing the new Malay College. Properly maintained and with its surroundings maintained

Of course not forgetting the Building that houses the famous Malay College. It is still in use!

Another first for Kuala Kangsar is this oldest rubber tree that was planted in Peninsula Malaysia. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the rubber industry of the modern world!

The tree though heard of by many, from the impression I got, the town folks have not really seen it! It is at the road edge of the junction opposite the Idris Club, next to the Land Office!

The town was also equipped with a beautiful esplanade beside the Perak River.

Here a view of that garden settings

Finally the actual view of the gentle rowing Perak River at this point of the journey

The Rest House

The Rest House was prominently perching on a low hill over looking the esplanade.

It clustered among the other statutory buildings, such as the library and school, the building stands in a beautifully manicured district.

The Rest House complex had 3 buildings

New wings had since been added and seen as the structure with yellow roof. A low annex is the detached building on the right.

Visitors can never miss finding the place and arrival can be confirmed by the sighting of its large signage facing the approaching road from town.

Couple of views from the compound of the Rest House .

First from the patio, a prefect miniature garden that was complete with the view of the Perak River as background

Then the indoor garden that was also tastefully designed and finished with potted plants and flowering bougainvilleas.
To cater for the small crowd that patronize this place, this is the elegant dinner hall that doubled up as a place for drinks and food..

This place was indeed a hideaway with an ambience of a small resort. The operator had just taken over the management of this complex a couple of years ago. The previous operator now had his own restaurant in town. Should be serving good food previously in the Rest House!
