Bentong Town

Bentong Town is short travelling time from Kuala Lumpur, just a hop across the Main Range, now that the Expressway is fully operational.

It is a destination for a good motoring outing and daytrip for the family over the weekends. In the months of June to August, it is durian season time, don't miss this opportunity 1999.

The town is "upgraded" from an old country town into a small modern metropolis. This is the approach road going into town from the expressway, yes Ketari district.
This is a scene of the original main street going right through Bentong Town, continuing the way to Raub or Gua Musang. This part has not been changed, these days the traffic here is considered bad.

The old street was sliced and modified as a dual carriageway.

Deviating from the subject of Bentong, Kuala Lumpur is blessed with the benefit of a large valley, plain and high mountains. How have all these terrain helped? For weekends, people from Kuala Lumpur have choices of many circular trips.

For example, take a drive to Bentong over the pass, you'll see 2 beautiful ravines on the way as the mountain stream gather momentum. On the way down the hills to Bentong, you will be driving beside one of the main tributaries that eventually form the gigantic Pahang River. From Bentong, follow another branch on the Pahang River to go up to Traum. Winding around the contour of the terrain with that ageless mountain road to reach The Gap. Then back into Selangor at Kuala Kubu Baharu. You will be able to see the country and understand how others like those on Superbikes enjoy their breakfast and lunch! Away from rushes, traffic jams and deadlines.

If you are hanging around the Bentong district, beside eating "ice-kachang" and savouring steam food made from illegally caught wildlife, you could check out this waterfall, a kilometer out of town. See Chamang Waterfalls.
Along the "old" Bentong road hugging the river bank, this is the renovated Hot Spring area. There is a smaller waterfall and picnic area along this stretch of road as well.

The waterfall, however, is badly silted most of the time from construction work progressing in Bukit Tinggi.
