Jerantut,
very remote besides the Taman Negera National Park, is a
touristic town by itself. This large poster put up in town is
an attempt to acquaint visitors arriving here of the
numerous possibilities and spots for outdoor activities
around its vicinity.
|
Without
venturing into the National Park, you can stay in Jerantut Town
and go caving, fresh water fishing, waterfall
hunting, white water, bamboo rafting
or even some social golf!
The
Jerantut Town has a new village linked to it. The road to the
National Park passes through this New Village. Visitors may
misconstrue that this part of town is typical of Jerantut. Hence
a sign directs attention to the appropriate place.
| Most
visitors associate this town as the departure point for
the National Park. From town a 18 kilometers state road
C9 will take motorist to the ferry terminal of Kuala
Tembiling. |
 |
 |
Jerantut town is located on a rather
long stretch of intercity trunk road. This picture shows
the western edge with traditional shophouses. The place,
a kilometer away from the newer part of town. |
| There is
no distinct town square but these buildings are in the
mid-point of town. Opposite part of the area is a low
hills and some area for the suburbs. |
 |
 |
To gradually build up a town center,
this piece of land acting as a broad road divider is
landscaped into a small park. Some of the newer shoplots
can be seen through the foliage. |
| There were hotels, restaurants and
this rather unique key maker. He operated his
bussiness from the van and had it parked at a vantage
site. This modus operandi had been practised over 20
years and with little or low overheads.
