Pengkalan
Hulu sounds much better than Kroh. The latter reminded Malaysian
that it was a frontier town, very remote and still a lawless
county with communist wandering around.
 |
It was indeed a frontier town at the
country's border with Thailand. But it is no longer
remote. First class highways now connected the town with
Grik and Baling on the West That is what this signboard
shows: Thailand is 7 kilometers away in the north.
|
| A
glimpse into what this border town looked like. Here are
shophouses and coffee shops. Developments was taking
place rapidly, this could be the last chance to see
wooden shoplots and how Kroh was like.. |
 |
 |
That
across town main trunk road with its road divider. Even
at the time when this town was re-built after the 2nd
world war, vision was set for a broad Main Street. |
Population
in town had increased tremendously with the armed forces and
security personnels at this main border outpost!
| Even
small town has their own recreation park! Kroh had one
with a beauitiful lake at the southern edge of town. This
pond is filled with water lilies |
 |
There was
nothing in town that would charm visitor in the town itself but
the area around Kroh offer a host of wonderful destinations. Not
forgetting, on the improved highway from Baling to Kroh, there
are still many vantage sites to get good view points of the
valley surrounding Baling
