Lenggong

his is a relatively little known township. Even for those who have heard of the name, many had not ventured that deep inland towards the Main Range. This is a tiny township with the main trunk road passing right at the center. Could be considered as a modern version of a "Cowboy" town.

This is a view of the Main Road Highway 76 from Kuala Kangsar to Grik. A gathering point for villagers around to do their shopping. There was no road divider yet on this main street i.e. in 1999.
OK some close up of the amjor buildings in town. This will in a way guage the level of upmarketness or size of community.

The shophouse row of complex was the MARA arcade, home to some important offices.

Along the same side and further down to the center, you will get the traditional shoplots.

There 2 Chinese Restaurants shown, identical signage, both competing to serve the notable fish ball, made from meat of the "Belida" [Grey Featherback] fish.

Most people will not think much about small places like Lenggong. There are much more than the local knows. From the town the road leading to Grik passes through many low limestone hills.

This is emphasied by the many signage directing visitors to caves.

Among the numerous, this one with fossils of the Famous Perak Man should be interesting.

A catch here, the new realigned trunk road runs parrallel to this original road. So if you are travelling like everyboby else do, then you will not get to see any of the signage. Next do not expect the caves to be tourist spots where one could just follow some paths and enter the caves.

From Lenggong on to the East-West Highway it is now a straight and beautiful high speed road. Speed limit remains at 90 kph. Travelling time to Grik should be just over half an hour.
